The name’s hue!
My name is rachel benfield (she/he/they), otherwise known as huemourless. I’m a 22 year old artist from new england who specializes in raster illustration, specifically concept, asset, poster, and splash art. I’ve been working digitally since I was thirteen, and have been in this field for about a year. I’m currently at university, seeking a BFA in illustration and graduating in june 2025.
i’ve been drawing since before i can remember, literally, but i can say for certain i’ve been doodling since i was a little kid. It grew into a passion when i was around 10. i’ve always had an eye for perspective and color, which definitely gave me a jumpstart in the field. i started out with pencil and eventually moved into digital illustration when i was inspired by artists i saw on the internet, such as Viktoria ‘Viria’ petrovska, Karina Farek of drawfee, and many others. i taught myself almost everything i know about photoshop and other illustration softwares, and i’m always open to learning more in order to push my limits.
something that has always pushed my creativity is my synesthesia. synesthesia is the ability to correlate one sense with another; in my case, i can see music. music has always been a vital part of my everyday life because of how it makes me feel, and it brings so many intriguing images and sensations to my mind that i wish for everyone else to enjoy as well. I’ve created whole characters and stories based on a single song, formed from a mesh of abstracted shape.

FAQ
what's your medium of choice?
my preference is digital raster illustration! the software i use is a free application called krita, which has professional software and tools, and also doubles as an animation program (though it requires an extra step in the install to actually utilize). I have a decent amount of experience in photoshop and a little bit in adobe illustrator.
i don’t only do digital work, however! i’ve had my fair experience in charcoal, graphite, colored pencil, and a little watercolor and acrylic, though painting is not my strongest medium. i’m also in the fields of digital mixed media and photography. if you’re interested in some of my work, go check it out in my portfolio!
what's your favourite thing to draw?
character concepts! from designing clothes to companions to the characters themselves, i love creating new characters and creating a world around them—it’s something i excel at, actually! i’m a bit of a daydreamer. i also love drawing portraits and poster illustrations of new characters i come up with.
Do you take commissions?
when i have the time—mostly in the summer—yes! check in with me on social media to see when my commissions are open. i’m also looking to get a shop open as well so you can buy prints or even physical works of mine (though i don’t do a whole lot of them)!
where can i contact you?
i’m on instagram, blueksy and tumblr (which i rarely use) as huemourless. there are links in the header and footer of the website, but i’ll also leave them here for you along with my email! if you don’t have social media, you can can subscribe to my newsletter.
